Matt Morgan (me) and Rich Mintz lead Act For Arts. I’m not really going to go into it here, but we have tons of experience in this kind of thing.
For my part, after more or less inventing online activism with colleagues at Environmental Defense Fund and seeing it take off everywhere, I was pretty shocked that it wasn’t already in use at Brooklyn Museum when I went to take over IT there. But I learned–museums are kind of chickenshit about this kind of stuff.
Rich did a crapload of early online marketing and activism, etc., both strategy and software, and was an important part of the Obama 2008 online campaign.
But what is Act For Arts? We’re not sure yet. It’s definitely a movement, with at least two hard-working proponents. It might also be a non-profit someday. It’s probably not going to be a software company, because the software has already been developed, but there might be some service/coordination aspect that Act For Arts can fulfill.
